Flower Cakes in Baskets

It's hard to believe it was 20 years ago that my friend Wendy and I had a cake business. Sometimes I go back to our old photo album of cakes and see what we created. Here's a page of flowers in baskets, all made from buttercream icing. The blue morning glories are done from royal icing. Frankly I'm not sure I could do any of this anymore! And...check out that fabulous calligraphy on paper. Again, could I ever do that again? Not so sure...

They are works of art - too beautiful to eat. I bet you could still do this now, especially since the cakes you have made recently are also fabulous.

I think it's interesting to see how your skills and interests with the medium of frosting (and cake) have developed/changed/evolved. You're a master at roses. And who makes a prettier garden cake? And what about the faux food cakes? Flower baskets were just the beginning . . .
