A Bridge Not Too Far

A bridge between my two gardens, that goes over the Mighty Mogelon (now dry!) had rotted and needed repair for a few years now. Today was the day!

 Richard scrounged some boards and managed to put it together by using recycled materials.

 Lucky the Mighty Mogelon wasn't white water or Richard would have been washed away!

 Nearly done...

 Lookin' good, eh?

Yippee! It's done and solid and ready to roll.

Summer Pose

Most summer Sundays are spent on a lawn chair, with a cool drink, doing the New York Times crossword puzzle. Ahhhh.

Happy Birthday Richard

Richard loves popcorn...and movies too! But since popcorn is part of his weekly menu, I thought a birthday cake celebrating his love for popcorn would be perfect. The bag is chocolate cake with a Nutella filling between the layers. The popcorn? Buttercream icing.

Birthday Celebrations

For Richard's birthday we headed over to the Georgian House in Alexandria for dinner.


We had a delightful meal with beef and barley soup, escargot and Richard's choice for an entree was fish...


...while mine was stuffed chicken.


Really yums-ville.


We spent the rest of the evening enjoying the musical stylings of bluesman extraordinaire Terry Gillespie and his guest Al Wood. A beautiful evening.

Richard the Woodsman

Here's Richard on his way to the woods to chop dead trees. Don't you just love the coordinating orange Husqvarna suspenders, hard hat and boots? Quite the fashion statement I think.

If You Build It...

Richard and two neighbours replaced the old, wooden soffits on part of the house the other day. Picture the scene from the flick "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" when they get together for the barn raising.


Just exactly like that but without the dancing and fightin' and no Howard Keel. Well Richard kinda looks like him in a way...?

Kitchen Reno

Richard is on vacation! So that means this week he tears out an old cupboard...


...to reveal rotten drywall.


So he had to take out the cupboard.


And then the drywall.

And then of course, you have to go into the ceiling to get out old insulation.


Are we having fun yet?

Men at Work

Richard and David had a few trees to cut down and donned their tree cutting outfits. I thought it strange that they were both wearing New York Yankee t-shirts. Perhaps they had a fashion consult before they got together?

Barney Update

Remember Barney, the barn cat that showed up last November?

He's now the brother of Richard's 10-year-old tabby Medea...

The sunrise on Richard's kitchen wall was incredibly dramatic this morning. He was doing the breakfast dishes and I told him I was going to take his picture. A bit of a ham, you think?
