Last Poutine of the Season

On the last nice sunny, warmish day a week or so back, Richard and I were drawn to stop at "Tami's Taters" in Renfrew, Ontario.

We figured it was a good time to end the poutine season.

Don't you love this folk-arty french fry container with the 2x4 fries?

We promised to obey all signs and not a seagull was in sight.

There were many things to tempt us on the menu but we stuck to our guns and ordered a medium poutine to share.

Isn't this a thing of beauty?

What cheesy goodness! Extra crisp fries which were still crisp by the time we got to the bottom of the melted cheesy, creamy bottom.

For the first time, we gave out a 5 curds out of a possible 5 curds. Congrats to Tami's Taters. And see ya next spring, poutine.

Ronna, maybe you should change the name of your blog to "The Poutine Chronicles"! :)

I LOVE the 2x4" french fries.

I totally agree with Sarah.

How can you top a 5 curds out of 5? I sense a challenge coming on. The research will be tasty!
Don't forget your Lipitor!

That photo was looked good enough to eat...(I am salivating).

I love the curd rating system. Based on that, I'd give A&W in Vancouver Airport 1 curd for taste and 1 for trying. But I'm wondering, is poutine quality an inverse relationship with distance from Quebec? Remember, I'm from the States...

It's worth the drive to Renfrew!! Those look so good, and I love the giant fries.

WHy Oxbow, I've had some pretty bad poutine in Quebec. But I think eastern Ontario is close enough to the Poutine Homeland that the quality here can be high.

I'd never heard of Poutine before, so I googled it. (Hey, I'm from Texas by way of California--we have Frito Pie here and Chili Fries, but not Poutine.) How do you pronounce it? It seems there are two schools of thought on that, from what I read.

Oh Ronna - these look SO good! A few restaurants in Wisconsin are catching on to poutine and its wonderfulness, but the last time we ordered it it came out as French fries with cheddar on top - NO CURDS! It was terrible and it made me long for Canada. :)
