We All Scream for Ice Cream!

My sis is visiting my from Ithaca, NY and yesterday we picked up Jen from Prescott and headed to Merrickville.


After lunch we decided to try some ice cream at the most fabulous ice cream shop.


One side features homemade gelato; the other side homemade ice cream, all in the most amazing flavours.


There are even tons of Jelly Bellies to choose from...


...or locally made chocolates.


But back to the ice cream. The waffle cones were made on the spot.


Jen chose a single scoop of gelato (which they'll split in two so you can taste two different flavours). She had berries of the woods and lemon.


Marci had dark chocolate ice cream topped with blood orange gelato.


I had peanut butter chocolate topped with roasted almond (which was to die for!!)
Great visit, great day and great ice cream.

Ice Cream Variations

On our Florida vacation, we checked out some ice cream.


This fellow was serving up some of the stuff on our cruise to the Bahamas.


Truth be told, the cones were tastier than the ice cream.


When we visited Disney's Universal Studios City Walk in Orlando, I wondered what Dippin' Dots were.


The fellow gave me a sample. They're actually little frozen dots of ice cream...


...which are very, very sweet. I thought they were pretty yucky so I didn't buy a concoction made with them.


At Disney's Epcot, I noticed that even their ice cream had Micky Mouse ears.


The best ice cream on our vacation was this frozen heaven served at The Dairy Belle in Dania Beach, Florida (just south of Ft. Lauderdale). Yum-o!

Dairy Freez, Barry's Bay

Richard and I headed up through Barry's Bay, Ontario last week and it was a fairly warm day..


...so we stopped in for an ice cream. Richard likes plain cones but I always go for the sugar cone. (Those waffle ones always seems just too big!)


What to choose, what to choose.


Okay, some of those colours should be in my paint box and not in ice cream. But that's just me.


Richard had the maple walnut. I just couldn't resist the Moose Tracks.


Vanilla ice cream with chocolate peanut butter cups swirled with Moose Tracks fudge. Hmmm...wonder what the heck Moose Track fudge is?


Whatever it is, it was delicious. Not as big as advertised...but big enough!

Yum, Yum, Yum

On our way back from Selkirk Shores State Park we spotted a huge, outdoor chicken barbecue so we had to stop.


Richard discussed their technique for cooking. Use only Kingsford briquettes and use a rub and not a marinade for the chicken.


We split a chicken dinner...


..which was incredibly tasty and moist. The sides were what they called "salted potatoes" (yum) and the baked beans were yummy too.


The Game Room behind me didn't feature any venison or moose meat but more like Nintendo-type games.


All of this took place in front of Colossal Ice Cream in Pulaski, New York.


Since it was in the mid-70s (about 22C) outside, we decided we should finish off our meal with a cone.


Richard had chocolate...


...I had Panda Paws.

Two Doorz Down

A few weeks ago I was given a gift certificate from the Glengarry Pioneer Museum for volunteering at the book sale.


The gift certificate was for Two Doorz Down, an old fashioned ice cream parlour in Maxville, Ontario about a 10 minute ride from here.


They serve delicious Kawartha Dairy ice cream, which is kind of hard to find in eastern Ontario.


And they offer quite a few flavours from which to choose.


Decisions, decisions.


Richard chose first and went for Death by Chocolate...


...and so did I!
