Sharp-looking Flowers

I visited a friend last weekend and was delighted to see my painted vase being used with a wonderful selection of flowers from her garden that looked like they were grown especially for that particular vase.

New Ceramics

A few friends have asked for some painted china for their grand kids over the winter and I finally got to it. 

While I was at it I painted a few other pieces for a group show at the Martintown Mill next month. I don't seem to have very much time to paint anymore, but when I do, it sure is fun!

A Few China Pieces

A friend asked me to do a plate for her grandson. I had done two others and Ryan, her newest grandson had to have one too!


While I was at it, I painted a few other things. An swirly olive plate...


...and a few kitty cat cups and saucers. It was kinda fun getting back to my paints again.

Baby Plates

I painted this dinner plate and matching dessert/salad plate for a friend of mine to take to her granddaughter in California. I hope she enjoys them!

Bowl Two Ways

Richard's sister used a large serving bowl I gave her for dinner...


...and then again the next morning at breakfast.

Egg Tiles

I found these vintage pale blue 4.25" tiles at a salvage place in Ithaca, New York a few weeks back...


...and I knew almost immediately that I wanted to paint various birds eggs on them.

Ceramic Updates

I'm keeping busy painting china for the upcoming show at my house on Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Seahorses in the Bathroom

A few years ago I gave my friend Rosemary this tile for Christmas. She loved it and has it on her bathroom counter.


She asked me to do some bathroom stuff (toothbrush holder, soap holder, glass) to go with the tile. I think they'll be happy in that bathroom. Kind of a fun set.

Odd and Ends

It's been busy around here and haven't had as much time as I'd like to paint ceramics. Here are a few things I managed to complete: a small, 5" high lupin canister.


A fun, yellow teapot, creamer and sugar with white daisies.


And a 6" high pitcher with my dots and daisies pattern.

Something's Fishy

I couldn't help but be inspired by my last two posts. Seeing so much fish, I just had to start painting them. Here's one on a creamer.


I painted a bunch of different fishies on this 8", four-sided vase.


Here are a few 10" tall vases that are kind of fun.


I really like the shape of this bowl, measuring 12" x 6.5". Nice fish too.

Painting Ceramics

I've been painting quite a lot lately, trying to get ready for some fall shows I have lined up.


It seems odd to be painting like a fiend when fall seems so far away.


But we all know how fast the seasons seem to creep up on us.


So paint, paint, paint for me.


I love this large cheese server, about 14" across, made as a request for a friend who wanted something that looked like the aftermath of a great party. Cheese crumbs.

Cat Tiles

I got an order for some 6" x 6" painted tiles with cats on them.


Each one has four felt feet on the bottom so it doesn't scratch surfaces.


They're perfect for a pot of tea or bowl of hot veggies.


I have a couple of them on my table and use them every day and they always make me smile.

Art Fayre Ceramics

Today and tomorrow is Art Fayre at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan. I'm showing my ceramics. Here's a daisy-covered batter bowl.

A three-tiered lupin server.


This soup tureen, covered with lupins, even has a matching ladle with a ladybug on it.

Cermamics of the Week

Here's some fun from this week in ceramics. A mini, green, daisy teapot would be fun for one cup of tea.


I love this olive swirl dish. I can just imagine all those little olives lined up in a row, making a swirly circle.


More fun eggs. This time on a crazy serving dish with a toothpick holder on the side.


I just love how this bowl came out. I won't put it outside for fear that a little birdie might come along and try to hatch these eggs.

Gift Shop at the Museum

One of my volunteer projects this year is to work on the gift shop at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum, just down the road from me. We have all sorts of books on local history and books by local authors as well.


This year we have local maple syrup products and are also featuring artwork by local artists. Here's work by watercolourist Fran Bailey from Vankleek Hill.


And here are a few other shelves in the tiny shop. The bottom shows work by blacksmith Ron Giroux of Cornwall. And the top shelf has my Thistleware ceramics, exclusive to the Museum.

Spring-Inspired Ceramics

I've been so busy blogging about nature and fun that I've neglected to post any new artwork. Here are a few new things out of the hopper.


What with all the spring birds arriving and nest building, I've been thinking feathers and eggs. This cup and saucer filled with coffee or tea would be a good way to start the morning.


A hunk of farm-fresh butter would be nice stored in this butter dish covered with birds' eggs.


This covered dish is kind of fun with feathers and eggs. What would you store in it?
