100 Things To Eat Before You Die #13

Fresh tomatoes from the vine, still warm from the sun, sliced and put on grainy bread slathered with mayo.

Top with sliced vidalia or other sweet onions, salt and pepper.

 Top with HP Steak Sauce.

This is by far one of the best sandwiches ever! Try it, you'll love it.

100 Things To Eat Before You Die #12

I love olives of all kinds, black and green. I love olives stuffed with pimentos or garlic or almonds or even blue cheese. But these olives, stuffed with anchovies are the bomb. They are especially lovely paired with hard cooked eggs.

100 Thing To Eat Before You Die #11

Okay, this one is a personal fave because my mum used to make it for me when I was little and I still love it. Toasted raisin bread, mayonaise, a fried egg, lettuce. That's it. Great flavours that remind me of my youth. Give it a try and lemme know whatcha think!

100 Things to Eat Before You Die #10

Okay, it sounds downright weird. Coffee jello. But foodies Jane and Michael Stern said it was a "must" in Boston and only served at Durgin-Park at the Feneuil Hall Marketplace. So we put it on our "to do" list...and we did it!

It originated when the owner saw a waitress throwing out old coffee and he wondered what he could do with the leftovers. Voila! Coffee jello.

And guess what? It was delicious! Not sweet so the slightly sweetened whipped cream was a great go-with.

Kind of like jellied iced coffee. Fabulous!

Okay, so it sounds pretty basic. Franks and beans. Not exactly what you'd find at a high end restaurant but yummy nonetheless. I especially love cocktail-sized franks, and kosher ones are the best. Maple-flavoured beans. Yup, it is a dish best eaten around a campfire but still makes my "100 Things" list.

Carrot cake. Because of the carrots, it's always moist inside. And you can't beat cream cheese frosting. Isn't it Bugs Bunny's favourite dessert?

You gotta try dry rub barbecued ribs. These were from a highly recommended place in Memphis, TN called the Rendez-Vous.

Foodies Jane and Michael Stern loved these ribs to bits. And they weren't wrong. Fab!

Steak. I love a good rib steak or T-bone and I like mine medium rare. To me there's nothing better than a good steak on a barbecue.

Sausages. Grilled. Fried. Sautéed. Whatever. And try a few types: breakfast sausages or Italian sausages, either mild or hot. There's something so fabulous about biting into a crackly skin and tasting that wonderful mixture of meat and spices. Love 'em.

Hot fudge sundae of any sort. Make sure the fudge is thick and hot. Mine usually includes salty peanuts because I love salt and sweet -- in this case a Peanut Buster Parfait from Dairy Queen -- but anything with hot fudge and ice cream works.

100 Things to Eat Before You Die #3

Not for the faint of heart, the thought of dropping a live lobster into a pot of boiling water can be a bit daunting.

But 10 minutes later, the vibrant red lobsters are ready to be eaten and in my books, one of the tastiest things in the world.

You'll need a series of tools to break that shell and fish out the meat but the effort is well worth it.

Just roll up your sleeves, tie on the lobster big, be prepared to get dirty and dig in. After tasting the tender, pink meat dipped into a bit of melted butter, I'm in heaven. Defnitely in my top 10!

100 Things to Eat Before You Die #2

Morels. These are not the white, button mushrooms you grew up with. As far as mushrooms go, the ne plus ultra has to be the morel. If you can't pick them yourself, they are available at many farmers markets in spring. While they're pricey, it's really worth picking up a few.

The best and simplest way to taste all the mushroomy, earthy goodness? Simply fried in butter until they get a little bit crunchy around the edges.

100 Things To Eat Before You Die #1

My sister Marci and I are constantly on the phone talking about food. She suggested I write about "100 Things to Eat Before You Die" and I thought it was a great idea. So here's the first entry.
Coffee. A good cup of regular, American-style coffee. Whether you take it black, with cream, with sugar, or both -- Canadians call that a "double-double" -- there's nothing like drinking a well roasted cup of very good coffee.
