Sharp-Shinned Hawk

I was so excited when I looked out my window and saw a Sharp-Shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus).

He was likely looking for his supper...a mouse foraging in the sunflower seed on the ground or a poor, unsuspecting songbird.

Unfortunately for Mr. Hawk, he left empty-handed...er, or something like that.

I love all of these, but that last action shot is very cool!

Maybe a wing and a prayer?

What a beautiful bird. Such intensity in his/her eyes.

The pictures of this bird are enough to make your imagination take flight!

Wonderful photos. Such gorgeous birds. I don't know what kind of hawks we have, but there are hawks in our neighborhood too. So majestic when they fly, and so fast when they swoop in for a prey.

We have red tailed hawks in our area, but I haven't had any luck photographing them! Canada Geese, however, are very obliging...
