X Marks the Spot

Since it's the season, we decided to roast chestnuts...but not in an open fire. It's pretty easy to do it in your oven. Just heat it to 425F and cut an X onto one side of each chestnut.


Put chestnuts into a baking pan, cut side up.


Roast in oven for 15 to 25 minutes, or until chestnuts have opened up and are tender and easy to peel.


Peel the nuts when they are cool enough to handle. Enjoy this seasonal treat!

Yummy... did you eat them as is or did you do something else with them?

Richard and I sat and ate the lot of them in front of a movie. Great popcorn replacement!

I think you are supposed to roast them over coal. And I believe you can cut a Z if you want...

What temperature do you put the oven at?

Thanks Ronna! We've eaten them Dave and I in the States once - a long time ago. I like your idea of roasting them, should try your method.
