Fiddleheads & Asparagus

My late mother was a Maritimer and grew up eating fiddleheads. She always served them to us growing up too. Richard discovered a patch growing in the woods about 2 minutes from the back door. The ones above aren't quite ready to be picked.

These ones are just perfect. Nice and meaty.

Pretty easy to pick. Just snap 'em off. And we always leave a few heads on the plant so it will grow again next year and we can pick again.

Meanwhile, in the garden, there's great excitement! The asparagus is ready to be picked. I've waited three years for this day.

Woo hoo! A big day. My own asparagus!

Okay, so it's just a start. But darn exciting...

...and paired with fiddleheads, who knows what I might come up with. Stay tuned.
